Our main yacht survey UK office is in wood bridge in the UK. We have the following UK based surveyors and offices.

Derek Levy – Yacht Survey UK – South East

Derek who has a Yacht Survey base in the UK, has extensive academic and professional marine qualifications. (BSc, CEng, MRINA, FIMarEST, MYDSA, MIIMS, MECAL). He has 30 years Marine Industry experience and is particularly strong in the construction and survey of steel and aluminium vessels. He has performed the most complex of surveys (eg. Structural consultant to Harland and Wolf on the Sea Empress).

In addition to mainstream surveys such as pre-purchase, construction supervision and insurance he has developed extensive ISM systems and acted as a trained expert witness. For 10 years he was manager of naval architecture for a leading city consultancy. He is a committee member of the YDSA and is the Scrutineer for MCA Coding authority. He has been the marine engineering course tutor for the IIMS Diploma in Marine Surveying. In addition to Red Ensign States he is approved by Bermuda and Belize for vessels greater than 24m. He has been with us for a number of years, and is also a keen aircraft pilot (JAR commercial and instructor’s ratings). He operates from Brighton.

Tony McGrail – Yacht survey UK – Dorset and Hampshire

Tony a UK based yacht surveyor who has been working for Ward and McKenzie since 1997, and is an IIMS qualified surveyor. He is a past Vice President of IIMS and Chairs the Small Craft Working group. He has a good working relationship with Sunseeker, Poole and has surveyed many of their large yachts. He also is the proud owner of Bloodhound, the former royal yacht, which he completed restored.

Lee Batterick – Yacht Survey UK – Channel Islands

Lee has over 30 years experience in the Marine Industry, with Fibreglass and Wooden vessels. Damage Surveys and investigations are undertaken as well as Commercial Craft Coding, RCD Compliance, Tonnage Surveys. He is also Representative Person with Jersey Harbours, Registration Advice for vessels to be placed on the Jersey Register.

Chris Olsen – Yacht Survey UK – South West

Chris has been with Ward & McKenzie for a long time and indeed, was one of the founding surveyors. A highly experienced small craft surveyor.

Neville Styles – Yacht Survey UK – North East / Scotland

Neville has worked for us since 1997, and is qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering. He has a close working relationship with companies such as Fairline, which means that he can get more out of the inspections than other surveyors.

Adrian Overbury – Yacht Survey UK – East Anglia

Adrian is an accredited member of the Y.B.D.S.A. and is ex boat builder having run the Robertson yard in Woodbridge for 10 years. He has a lot of experience of wooden sailing boats up to 100ft.

Ed Horne Wingett – Yacht Survey UK – South and south East UK

Ed has many academic and professional marine qualifications (BSc, DipMarSur, AMYDSA, MIIMS, MECAL, RYA Yachtmaster Ocean). He has supervised Super yacht new builds and refits, as well as undertaking Pre purchase surveys, MCA Compliance Inspections, Tonnage Measurements, Valuations and Damage Inspections.

Mike Proudlove – Wales Mike is an IIMS qualified surveyor. He lectures in the subject as well as yacht design. He is able to also supervise extensive refit work.

Paul Rutherford – North West UK Paul is based in the north west and looks after our surveys in that area and Scotland. He is a full IIMS member.

Eugene Tubridy – Ireland Based in Cork Eugene looks after our clients in Ireland. An IIMS full member amd a Marine Engineer. He holds a Certificate in Boat Building and Design and is an Official ISA measurer. He has masses of experience on sail and motor yachts. He is a former engineer on commercial vessels.
