Marine and yacht engine / engineering surveys
A marine engineering survey is a detailed inspection of the condition and/or the performance of the machinery and associated equipment on board a larger yacht.
Though the scope can be discussed it usually involves some invasive testing in addition to the sea trials and the inspection of controls, fuel, electrical, cooling, exhaust systems, engine beds and mounts as a normal survey may.

David Shaw – Marine engineering consultant
David is an affiliate of the Y.B.D.S.A. and the Institution of Diagnostic Engineers. His experience includes Ford, HM forces REME, Detroit Diesel, Volvo Penta, Perkins, Cat, and diagnostic and forensic engineering. Current work involves Lloyds Arbitration Service writing reports on vessels up to 85 metres. David is our engineering guru.

Qualified as a Merchant Marine Engineer NZMSA / UKMCA and Super Yacht Chief Engineer UKMCA. He brings a wealth of knowledge and operational experience from 3 years shore based, 11 years Marine Merchant Commercial Shipping and 7 years Super Yachts. He is currently enrolled with the I.I.M.S.
